THE KWK Program (Although much of the information given speaks of children and teens, please know that we have a strong emphasis on teaching adults of all ages and that the general info is for everyone) Our Program combines traditional martial arts training with high level character development and state of the art teaching methods. Not only do our children, teens and adults learn self-defense, they also develop very positive feelings about themselves and others. There are many concerns with how our children, teens and young adults are growing up in today’s world. The pressures on our youth today are very different from when we were growing up. Children and teens don’t only have to worry about getting good grades and behaving, they have the constant battle of avoiding drugs, gangs, violence, bullying, pier pressure and are under the constant threat of being abducted by an adult or another child. The dangers our children and even adults face today are unbelievable. We don’t want to be paranoid, but we do want them to be safe. The best way to accomplish this is to have a set plan both at home and away from home. At KWK Academy of Martial Arts, we realize that in order to give a child a head start in life, they must possess certain skills. Although the need for self defense both Mentally and Physically are important, we cannot ignore the Life Skills and Mental Benefits that we much teach our children. Martial Arts is great for children A psychological study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility., a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks, and a higher sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using martial arts to supplement their children’s education. Our reward system improves children’s self-esteem The belt system is the key to building esteem. When kids earn their belts it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves. Our Program teaches children discipline We are patient instructors who love to work with children, but are also very clear about limits. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same kind of behavior at home and in school. Our activities channel children’s aggression Many doctors have prescribed martial arts because of the positive outlet it gives the kids for all their energy. Our program teaches essential self defense skills Our program teaches practical, proven self-defense methods. We also teach that the moves learned in class will work, so as not to go home and try them on family members or neighbors.
